Dear Cathy
I haven't been into this sight for such along time so I have only just received your message. The information I have is as follows:-
Twin Alexander migrated to Australia in the ship `Thomas Harrison' arriving in Adelaide South Australia 28th Feb 1839
He met Mary Sleigh who had arrived form Scotland on the ship "Rajasthan" on 21st Nov 1838. They married on the 10th Oct 1842. They had nine children as follows:-

Alexander b.08/08/1843 d. 16/03/1853 (9 years)
Grace b.04/05/1846 d. 1928
David b.05/01/1848 d. 18/05/1849 (1yr 4mths)
Mary b.07/12/1849 d. 07/01/1850 (1 month)
Christina b.27/12/1850 d. 25/01/1928 (78 Years)
Alexander(2) b.17/04/1854 d. 16/07/1949 (94 years)

John b.14/12/1858 d. 12/02/1936 (77 Yrs)
Elizabeth b.03/04/1861 d. 1939 (77 yrs)

I also have their spouses etc as well. My family is descended from Alexander(2).

Twin Alexander died 15/10/1891 and his wife Mary (Sleigh) died 28/04/1891. I have no information about twin David except for that he migrated to North America in the Ship "Sophia Margaret" for Pt. St. Fransisco on the 28th Feb. 1849. I have been trying to find out what happened to him but have come up against brick walls!!

If you wish to contact me privately my email is

I hope this information helps. In return you can give me your family history. It was only recently that I discovered that twins David and Alexander had an older brother that I assummed stayed in Scotland. Is this right?

I wait for your reply
Rosalie Calderwood
