Joseph,
I have tracked my line of Calderwoods to Ireland. William my gggGrandfather states that he was born in 1780 in Ireland on the 1840 census. He shows up in the US around 1807 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a gunsmith in PA having a government pistol contract in 1807. Do you know of any of the Irish Calderwoods that have a history of gunmaking. William may have brothers and sisters by the name of Andrew, Hugh, John, Nancy, and Betty. We don't know William's wife's name or where from Ireland he came from. William's children's names were Nancy, Isabela, Catherine, Hugh, Henry Mason, and Mary Ann. We are stuck. Do you have any ideas of where to go next, or have you ever heard of any of my Calderwoods? I have seen some Calderwoods on the 1850 Dublin census who are gunsmiths, but I can't make any connections because I know nothing else about my family. Thanks in advance for any help,
Bob
