Bob:

I do not have much on the Calderwoods before 1800. The gunsmith connection is not found in Co Antrim very much except in the Belfast. How that connects to the Calderwoods in Dublin, I do not know.

I do know that from research there are many Calderwoods in Dublin and the records seem to be strong there for that group. I do know that there are many Calderwood Will from Dublin. I also know that many of the orriginals have been distroyed in the four courts fire.

I have not seen one gunsmith in the records that I have extracted. This is in excess of 20,000 for Co Antrim. This may help by pointing you in another dirrection. I would check Dirrectories for members of the Calderwood family in Dublin area. This would be even in the 1850's even though they left in 1807. Brothers and cousins may still have been listed.

I would check Masonic records & Guild records in the 1750-1850 time period. Check the Masonic records in the US to find place of transfere of records.

Good luck,

Joe Reiley
