Hi, I am new at this and trying to find any information on my heritage. My grandmother was Rita B. Calderwood, born in 1884 in PA. Her father or grandfather( I suppose it could be) was William A. Calderwood born about 1840. On his discharge paapers from the Civil War it states he was born in Mill Hall to a Samuel Calderwood. I do have information on the Samual Calderwood born in 1868, m: Almeda Clark 1873, children Ella May, Georgia Frances, David James, Donald Burns,Robert Bruce, and Sarah Elizabeth. I believe that my grandmother and Ella were cousins who were friendly and visited for I remember going to her son Donald Mayes house in Mill Hall as a child. Also Donald had a sister Rita( probably named after my grandmother). I know there is a connection there but haven't found William anywhere. He was 6' tall and had a fair complexion and dark curly hair and dark eyes( per Civil War record). If anyone could hlp me- I would appreciate it. I sent Peter Johnson what records I have and he has been kind enough to send me what he had. Thanks in advance for any information.
signed; another Calderwood
