My great grandmother, Margaret Calderwood, married William Moore O'Neill November 28, 1877. Margaret was born May 4, 1854 or 1853 in Killydonnly (their spelling), Rasharkin. Her father was Hugh Robert Calderwood (or Robert Hugh Calderwood)a linen weaver. Margaret Calderwood and her husband William O'Neill of Mullens, Finvoy immigrated to the US May 20,1881 from Liverpool to New York and went immediately to Belle Plaine, Iowa. Margaret's father and 6 of her sisters immigrated to Belle Plaine also. Her mother Mary Ann Bradley did not--I assume she was dead by 1881. Margaret was the last of 10 children. Some of her sisters' names are Jane, Sarah, Elizabeth, Rachel, Mary and Jenina. Margaret died in Belle Plaine, Iowa January 31, 1913 after having 2 girls in Ireland and the remaining several children in Iowa.
I have many handwritten Calderwood records from the Second Presbyterian Church, Killymurris, Rasharkin--copied by the wife of a now past minister there. Does any of this sound familiar to you or can you tell me more about Mary Ann Bradley and Hugh/Robert Calderwood? When and of what Mary Ann (Bradley) Calderwood die?
Margaret Calderwood was William Moore O'Neill's second wife. He had two girls by his first wife before she died. One of little girls immmigrated to the US with them.
