Info from Colleen's post on another board:
"Henry Mason Calderwood's dob Mar. l849 , dod Jan. l93l, Interred Mission Center Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas. Married Evaline Shores McClain b 6-26-l849, dod l2-5-l9l3, Interred Shelby Cemetery Cemetery, Shelby Nebraska."
I have a copy of a marriage license from McDonough County, IL. Date 6 NOV 1866, MASON CALDERWOOD AND EVELINE SHORE. There is a note attached giving permission, signed by Emily Shore as Eveline would have been 17. Sadly the application and license do not give ages nor place of birth/residence.
Note this does not say Henry Mason, just Mason. Colleen's info indicates it IS Henry Mason. With his father being Henry too, one could understand going by Mason.
A couple of things don't quite add up: Henry
Mason,b Mar 1849 son of Henry and Rebecca, would have also been 17 in 1866.Legal age? Your 1893 marriage record indicates HM was born in 1853, not 1849 and was a widower but Eveline lived until 1913 so his previous wife must have been someone else.
Then again, people have given conflicting info on marriages licenses before. I'm beginning to think there are both a Henry Mason Calderwood AND a Mason Calderwood. Perhaps cousins from Lawrence County.
