Virginia (Jennie) CALDWELL b 1864 S/E MO
Trying to locate anything that will assist me in determining the ancestry of my great grand parents - John A. O'DONNELL and Virginia (Jennie) CALDWELL.
I have not been able to locate anything that helps me identify John or his parents except his name on my grandfather's Death Certificate, SS-5 application and oral history. I have information on Jennie, just not the little piece that reveals the identity of her parents.
Virginia was born 26 Nov 1864, New Madrid, MO (probably county not city, possibly near the present city of Malden); She seems to have been called "Jennie" most of her life;
m1: John A. O'DONNELL (date & place - unknown); One child: Arthur Edward O'DONNELL, born 9 July 1880 also New Madrid, MO (probably county not city, possibly near where Jennie was born); Arthur was a Rail Road worker in Polar Bluff, Butler County, MO, when he married in 1904;
m2: Albert UNDERHILL (date and location unknown); two children: Ethel UNDERHILL was born 20 Sept 1883, MO &; Audria UNDERHILL was born 22 Aug 1887; MO: Both married Rail Road employees;
m3 (?): George LAIL to Jennie O'DONNELL, 20 Dec 1893; Malden, Dunklin County, MO; the Marriage Certificate Lists Jennie as "Miss" and George as "Mr"; no ages; both "of" Malden, MO; no witnesses named. I don't know if this is my "Jennie" or not. A 29 year old lady with 3 children doesn't fit my concept of a "Miss".
m4: Joseph RUBEN; ca 1914, probably in MO; no children; They relocated to Kokomo, Indiana ca 1915 and lived there until their deaths in 1944;
Jennie died 03 Oct 1944, in Kokomo, Howard County, IN and is buried with her husband (Joseph) and daughters and their spouses in Kokomo.
The 1870 Federal Census for New Madrid County, Big Prairie Township, MO lists 3 CALDWELL families: a Lilborn CALDWELL (age 39); wife Margaret (age 34) and children: Sarah (age 13); Isaac (age 9); Lavinia (age 6); Mary (age 5) and William (age under 1). It seems probable to me that Lavinia is actually my Virginia but, so far I have been unable to prove/disprove this possibility.The other 2 CALDWELLfamilies have no children that match Virginia's age.
Would appreciate any info that might help me extend the O'DONNELL and/or CALDWELL lines a little farther into the past.
Thanks; Jack A. O'Donnell
