I am related I believe collaterally to your line of CALDWELLS and know they go to the original line of CALDWELLS that came out of Cub Creek, VA.
I have been tracking all these sidelines in order to assist me with mine.I believe I go thru the youngest son of JOHN & MARGARET PHILLIPS CALDWELL, who were the founders of the
CALDWELL Presbyterian Settlement in Lunenberg (now Charlotte Co., VA) who came to America in 12-10-1727 and shortly thereafter went to Lancaster Co., PA.They originally came from Derry Co., Ireland.Sisters of JOHN CALDWELL married RITCHIES-MOORES-RODGERS-DUNGEONS, and ROBERTSONS.Some of these lines also came to VA, some migrated to some of the SW counties of Va, others went to
NC, SC, and later others went to KY and elsewheres.
I have acquired the genealogy of Mrs. Imogene McCreight Terry who wrote her CALDWELL genealogy "Kith and Kin".Some of this line is your same line of CALDWELLS - remember REV. CREED TANNER CALDWELL - think this line came to Troup Co., GA before the Civil War, and later went to Tyler, TX.
Mrs. Terry's Mother was a CALDWELL - and there is a CALDWELL Zoo in town - funds most likely given by the family to create the Zoo - I am intrigued because my Father, EUGENE, who was born in Huntington, WVA, is a twin for one of their more current ancestors! The resemblance is just absolutely mindboggling! You need to acquire the
genealogy because it has many pictures of your earlier ancestors within it.
I just happen to have come to the El Paso area because of my husband's time in the military, then we decided to stay.
I was raised in the Northwest, moved to the Midwest after high school. My direct line of CALDWELLS come out of the
SW counties of VA - Washington-Russell, Lee Counties.I believe my WILLIAM CALDWELL went whereever JOHN CALDWELL, JR. went and ended up in Adair County, KY, as did the Brother, ROBERT CALDWELL who married MARY LOGAN, had a child born in 1803 in Columbia (Adair Co.), but moved by 1806 to Danville, KY (Boyle-Mercer Counties) where ROBERT
died.
Mrs. Terry does not have email, but might be located through the library - I have had her address, and because she was elderly at the time I made contact with her, she
might have passed away in the meantime. Her genealogy was
unbound, and I made contact with her nephew - think the name was Lewis.I found the information online by accessing CALDWELL Genealogies.Hope this is a help to you and know you will be thrilled that you have a genealogy done complete with pictures of some of the earlier ancestors.I am not real sure where you have them in common, but certainly do with DAVID WILLIAM and ELIZABETH
"BETSY" TANNER CALDWELL.I just have not proven my link to REV. JAMES CALDWELL just yet, but several clues are quite strong.I have seen the connection between family resemblances going down the sidelines. So that is why I am so intrigued there is someone that resemblances my Father and a 60ies CALDWELL in the line of Mrs. Terry that resembles my own Father so much.I am a twin who has twins, and both my twin son and his son favor my twin Brother tremendously in looks. My Father had the dark brown hair in his youth, tall, thin with the blue eyes that
are typical of CALDWELL traits, even with prominent foreheads and larger noses. It appears that all the CALDWELL lines are rampant with having cancers. Both my Father and his Sister both died from different kinds. Some
of the line of Mrs. Terry's did also including the one that
resembles my own Father so much!
Will be anxious to hear from you about this information.
