Cales Family Genealogy Forum

I don't know if there is a connection but my great grandfather, Alfred Cale, was born in Herefordshire. I know he lived in Monmouthshire for a number of years but how old he was when he moved there and where he married I don't know. He was a Stonemason and I know there were brothers and sisters of Alfred but I have not been able to trace them or find out names, etc. All the information I have about his family are about the daughters he had. I think their mum died in childbirth when they were very young and I believe her name was Alice O'Leary. I have a Certificate showing the church of St Alban's in Pontypool as being their parish. It was the First Communion Certificate for Cecilia Cale and it is dated 1911. One of the daughters emigrated to the USA with her aunt Annie Niven (I think she was Cale before she married but I don't know for sure) and they are believed to be from Glanafon, Monmouthshire. I would be interested to know if you have any information at all to help me in my search for the Cale family in that area. I hope to visit the area one weekend soon as it is not too far away from me - I come from Carmarthenshire in South Wales which is where my great grandfather eventually came to live. I would love to hear from you, Sue
