I have an 1870 census from Beaver Township, Iroquois Co. Ill that lists Parkinson Cales, age 36 with wife Catharine, age 36, children George, 10, Lansing, 8, Nancy, 5, James 3, and John, 2 mos. The same census lists his father John, age 52, wife Eliz, age 32, and children Lucius,12, Alma Docia,6, Jarrett,3, John,2, Lansing,26, & Sarah, 24. Also the families of Jackson (presumably Andrew Jackson) and C. C. (Clawson or Calloway?)are listed.

You can also get the 1860 census for Concord Twp., Iroquois Co., Ill. that lists John Cales & Elizabeth's family. There is a notation that John can neither read nor write.
