John Caldwell Calhoun Family Home - Verda, Louisiana
Posted by: Suzanne Bullock De Santiago (ID *****8874) Date: June 17, 2010 at 23:54:41

I've ran across a 1902 photo of John Caldwell Calhoun and other family members in front of their home that was located in Verna, LA, Grant Parish. I was wondering if this home still exists, to anyone's knowledge?

His wife, Louisa, granddaughter Nettie Jane O'Neal, daughter Emma O"Neal, and son Jefferson Caldwell are also pictured in this photo.

Specifics say Grant Parish, Ward 7. Verda, LA. Location about 9 miles from Montgomery, LA.

The photo shows a house with 2 trees to the left - maybe oak (?)- and the house is on a pier and bean foundation about 2" off the ground. The porch runs the length of the house in the photo, and there is a rocking chair on the front porch, right of center.

Thanks for your help!
