Early Jack Calk (1846), Clarke Co., Alabama

I'm researching my husband's family. His grandmother was Ethel Cleora Calk (b. 9/9/1882 in Bonham, Texas; d. 11/1/1960 in Wichita Falls, Texas).

I have reason to believe that Ethel's father was Early Jack Calk from Clarke Co., Alabama (b. 1846, d. 1906). Ethel's mother was Wincey Titsworth (b. 5/20/1855 in Bonham, Texas; d. 1/28/1908).

I would like any information about Early Jack, and I suspect that somehow this leads back to Elijah Calk, also of Alabama, but I can not make the connection. I'd guess that Early must have been the son of one of Elijah's sons. Any help would be appreciated.
