Culk/Cork problem
Posted by: Doris Denton (ID *****5418) Date: July 21, 2002 at 22:58:25

Does anyone know anything about a ____ Culk (male) who died in California or whose widow went to California in 1850/1851, possibly from Missouri? My ancestor, Lucinda Roberts married in Diamond Springs, El Dorado Co., CA., but evidently had a previous marriage. Her name on her marriage record, in 1852, to Elisha Glass is definitely Lucinda CORK. However, in subsequent documents having to do with the death of Elisha Glass, the name is often spelled CALK. There is a three year old girl named Mary Ann Glass, b in Missouri, with Lucinda in the 1852 California census. Mary Ann is not in later censuses. I believe she was the child of Lucinda's marriage to Culk/Cork, as Elisha did not have a family in the California census for 1850.

I would appreciate any help/suggestions on this.

Doris in California
