Hi Jerry. So you think YOU are slow -- look at me!I have been working on my mother's line (Chamberlin), and just got back to Calkins. Wondering if you ever uncovered any more info on Asahel. I also have the story about AD dying of woundsfrom the 1846 conflict. Here is what I have from my father:
Asahel was born at Elba, Genessee Co., NY,and was brought up by two old maid aunts near Batavia in western NY state. He married, when scarcely over 21, Anna Radford "of some place nearby" and went first to Michigan where most of the children were born, and next to pioneer on railroad land in Iowa. I do have a bit more that Dad wrote about Anna Radford and her family, and some character sketches of Anna and Asahel. If you would like this information, I'll email it to you.
Alice
