Hi, Betty;
I am sorry to report that I am unable to find any of the close family members that you name in the genealogy database maintained by the Calkins Family Association, or in some of the reference sources that we use for information. I think that one reason for this is that most of us do not record individuals born after about 1910, for fear of publishing personal information about living persons. And even though Joe and Alberta were born before that, we have not yet caught up with them.
If we could find anything on Joe's parents or grandparents we might be able to make the connections. I am reasonably sure that you are connected to the rest of us, as most people in the U.S. with the name Calkins (any spelling)are descended from Hugh and Ann Calkins, who immigrated in about 1640.
As far as locating your Father, I assume you have tried some of the teleophone and other search programs. James is a difficult name to look for, as it is fairly common.
I will keep watch and let you know if anything turns up.
regards, Ken Calkins
