You beat me to it. I should have put in my first note that the Calkins Family Association has a free lending library program for our books, if you pay media rate postage both ways.
When you read that book, I think you will be impressed at the sacrifice and heroism displayed by some of our kinsmen.
Incidentally, there were also a number of Tories in the family. A number of them - they called themselves "Loyalists" - moved to Canada, mostly Nova Scotia, just before and during the early days of the Revolution.
