Unfortunately Walter Monroe Calkin's male family line have been gone for some time and did not leave living male heirs. I'm not fluent w/DNA research, but from what I gather, my husband who has the Calkin's interest would not be a good candidate for testing?
Yes!! Walter's wife was Charlotte (Lottie) Kloeckner!!
John F Calkin's was born 1852 in Mundy, Genesee County, Michigan, buried at the Calkins plot in Union Cemetery, Richfield Township, Michigan - DOD unknown. He married Louisa Maria Goodnough Oct 1870 in Flint, Michigan, witnessed by George C and Maggie Calkins. Louisa was born 1854, died 1912 and is also buried in the Union Cemetery Calkins plot. They had eight children - Harriet A, Nellie R, Claudia M, George G, John B, Burt, Josephine E, and Walter M.
Living in Michigan has afforded me the opportunity to visit many, many libraries, court houses, and geneology sites, however it appears John F just 'pop up'. Any tidbit to re-engergize my search would be GREATLY appreciated!!
V/R Janice (JL) Tuttle
