Hi, Ben;
Royal W. Calkins was the second of six children born to Kirkland and Lorilla (Williams) Calkins. He was b 18 Mar 1870 in Wyoming, Jones Co., IA. The family has been of interest to me because there was a Dr. Martin Calkins living in Wyoming at that time for whom I have been trying to find ancestry. One would think there is a connection, being such a small town, but I can find none.
We have the line from Kirkland to the immigrants Hugh/Ann Calkins recorded if you are that interested. To give full details, I would like to send copies to a street address.
Since Royal married Margaret McKinley at age 48, one wonders if there might have been an earlier marriage, and if he left any children. I have no record of such.
Yes, I know where Monticello, UT, is. Back when we owned a partnership in a houseboat on Lake Powell, we sometimes went through there on the way to Hall's Crossing.
Do you know the area?
Regards, Ken Calkins
