Callaghan Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Richard,
I wish I had more to give you. I only just found out a few weeks ago that I had a connection to the Callaghan family. Until then, we only knew my great grandmother as Honora Bush Connors - she married Michael Connors in Co. Galway who was my great grandfather. Some of the famoly assumed that Bush was her maiden name. I was finally able to get a copy of the marriage cert for Honora and Michael and her father's name was listed as "John Callaghan" of Churchtown, Co. Cork. This marriage cert was in 1888. So, now I know that my great grandmother was Honora Callaghan. Also, when I found her on the passenger manifest to the US (1914) she listed her place of birth as Churchtown, Cork. That is all I have been able to find out. Which is very little. Except that the family seems to have been there for some time. She was born in 1857, so I am guessing that John Callaghan was born around 1827 or so, I do not know his wife's name. I should check the 1901 census for John, though I don't knwo how I would identify him. By that time my g-grandmother was married in Galway and I found her. Surely, there must be a connection between us - we are from such a close location. By the way, have you been to Ireland? I now have dual citizenship - who knows whjat I will do with it! Aanyway, athanks for your help - I would be interested in whatever you uncover.
Thanks, Ellen
