Abner, Rockingham Co., VA; mid 1800s
I am not a member of this family, just entering random information.I did not see this man's name in othr messags, so I thought there might be a need for information on him.I have a booklet "History of Northern Linville Creek" by Rev. Charles E. Nair, 1954, which has a few sentences on this man:"Up to the close of the last century, there was an old house standing on the south side of Round Hill.....its grey stone walls could be seen from miles away.It was called 'the old Canady House' in the 80s (1880s).Abner Canady lived there before and around the middle of the century. His daughter, Lucretia Canady, married William spitzer, son of Henry Spitzer. They lived at Newtown, now Mayland."
There were no other listings for these people in the index of this booklet. There might be further information in the files in the historical society, in Dayton, Virginia. The booklet is available for purchase there also.
