Dear Barbara,

I am presently writing a novel that references Elysian Grove, the Cane's plantation in Bossier Parish. If you have any information about the particulars of the operation of their plantation, esp. between within ten years or so either side of the Civil War, I would be glad to make the portrayal as faithful to history as I can.

A branch of my mother's family, the Hamiters, had a plantation north of Cane's Landing in Plain Dealing. Thus my interest in the area.
