Franklin, Gillespie, Cane Connection in VA

Andother angle:

We have a Simon Gillespie, believed born in 1767 and lived in Botetourt VA as late as 1799. He married Hannah Cane and grandchildren's middle names often were Franklin, even the girls. Hence we suspect, and ask help to identify, that Simon's father, grandfather, or grandfather in law was a Franklin (possibly Joseph Franklin since one male grandchild's name was Joseph Franklin Gillespie. Anyone have any Franklins marry Gillespies in VA anywhere near Roanoke, VA? Anyone have a Gillespie marry a Cane?
