Darling M. Cane/Cain - Pickens Co, GA - 1880
Posted by: Jeanette (ID *****1737) Date: April 11, 2002 at 08:01:35
  of 138

The 1880 census for Pickens Co, GA includes the following family:

Darling M. Cane - age 30
Caroline - 33
L. Monroe - 12
John Frank - 9
Istalina - 6
Theadore - 3
Sophia - 10 mos.

I suspect he might be part of the Cain family who seem to have originally settled in Lumpkin Co, GA since Pickens Co borders Lumpkin. However, I did not find him in earlier census data for any county in north Georgia, nor have I found this couple or any of their children in other, later Pickens Co data.

Does anyone know anything about this family or where they may have gone after 1880? Although I'm not a Cain/Cane descendant, I believe Caroline Cain/Cane to be a long-missing member of one of my families.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
