Sue

I'm afraid I never got any more information about the earlier Henry.

However the younger Henry that you refer to was the older brother of Richard who was my great-great-great grandfather (may have miscounted the greats!). He was christened in 1830 in Portsea with his sister Amelia and moved to Limehouse sometime between 1834 and 1843. Henry married Myra (Maria?) Johnson who was a sailor's daughter.

Many of the Canes lived in Eastfield Street in Limehouse(numbers 108, 117, 120 and 141!). My side of the Canes stayed in Limehouse until the second world war when they were bombed out (my grandfather, now deceased, was born in Limehouse as was my grandmother). Drop me an e-mail and I will happily share more details and hear about your side.

Happy New Year

Stuart
