HI JOhn,
Here are some of the details i have on this family. They have been sent to me from the parish records for Mt Bures.

Children of JOSEPH & MARY CANT
William 1786
Joseph 1787
Elizabeth 1790
Abraham 6 April 1792
Hannah 1796

Elizabeth 4 Dec 1791
Sarah 1793
Mary 1796

(all dates are baptisms and not births)

Marriage of:

ABRAHAM CANT to ELIZABETH ROBERTS both single and of this parish by banns 21 sept 1813
witness Jeremaih Buggles/Ruggles ( he was witness to lots of marriages so was probably a church warden) and Elizabeth Cant.

Elizabeth 24 oct 1813
Abraham 19 Nov 1815
Mary 19 April 1818
James 20 Aug 1820
John 5 Jan 1823
Sarah 7 Aug 1825
Hannah 3 Feb 1828
William 31 Oct 1830
Joseph 22 sept 1833

Marriage of ABRAHAM CANT to LUCY BULL 15 Jan 1836
Walter 24/4/1836
Zachariah 18/2/1838
William 29/12/1839
Matilda 13/6/1842
James 4/12/1842
George 1/10/1843

John this could be your lot. Ther is no Henry though but not to say he is not there. The fisrst time i was sent these deatils the last 2 children were missing. When the lady went back and looked she found them. I would say Lucy has not finished children yet as that only accounts for 7 years (not bad 6 kids in 7 years).
My interest in this family is that i am trying to find a William who came to Australia in 1850. He lists his father as Abraham or Edward (on 2 different certs) so i am hunting. I think someone is going to look at the 1841 census for me also. Not sure how i am going to determine my William unless someone in the family in England remembers Uncle William who went to Australia.
This family is looking like the one but who knows whether i will ever priove it. If you know any oldies there i would love you to ask them the question.
Are you in England? If so i would love a copy of addresses for all Cants in and around Mt BUres.

Hope this info helps you cos i think it is probably your lot.
