Hi Sheri-

Joseph Cantarow was my paternal grandmother's first cousin. I have a fair amount of information about his parents, siblings, and their offspring, and would love to hear from you.

His parents were Jacob and Anna and they can be found in the 1900 Hartford census, along with Joseph's 4 siblings who are still at home. Interestingly this census report says that Anna gave birth to 11 children, 8 of whom are still alive. Yet only 5 of them show up in America. My guess is that there were 3 older daughters who stayed behind in the Ukraine (this family was from the city of Poltava).

I suggest you go to my family tree at http://www.baggott.net/tree/WC_TOC.htm and check out the Cantarow info I have posted there. I haven't updated this since 1998 so it is incomplete, but most likely what is there is accurate.

Are you related to the Cantarows?

–Mary Tim
