I have a large amount of information on the Canterbury family, would be happy to share with you.
I have the following on John:
Descendants of John Canterbury


Generation No. 1

       1. John2 Canterbury (Jedithen1)1 was born Cir 17741, and died 1821 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. He married (1) Elizabeth Bocock1 Bef. 1809, daughter of William Bocock and Callie Rudy. He married (2) Nancy Lycan 18 September 1809 in Greenup, Kentucky, daughter of Jacob Lycan and Dolly Cook. She was born Cir 1794 in Wilkes, North Carolina, and died Bef. 1821 in Greenup County, Kentucky.

Notes for John Canterbury:
1. In 1822 Benjamin Canterbury and Reuben Canterbury, his brothers, were Canterbury; the children named were Malinda, Gooding and Amy.
2. John Canterbury may have been in the war of 1812.
3. 6 November 1813. Greenup county, Ky, Deed Book, p. 150-51: John Canterbury purchased 75 acres for 300.00 from David White. This land was on the Big Sandy River in the vicinity of where Lick Branch joined the river.
4. Information from three census records show the following:
1800 Bourbon County, KY: (from a compiled tax list); 1810 Greenup County, KY: 00010-11000;
1820 Greenup county, KY: 100001-21000
5. John may have a sixth child, a son named John.

       4       iii.       Nancy Canterbury, born 1808 in Greenup County, Kentucky; died Bef. 1880. She married Rudoloph Sperry 24 September 1825 in Lawrence County, Kentucky.
       5       iv.       Gooding Canterbury, born 1811 in Greenup County, Kentucky.
       6       v.       Malinda Canterbury2,3, born Cir 1813 in Greenup County, Kentucky; died 23 May 1891 in Boyd County, Kentucky. She married Reynolds Newman4,5,6,7,7 29 May 1830 in Lawrence County, Kentucky.
