Hello, I have James C. Canterbury(Canterberry) b. 1807 TN.His father possibly Esquire Canterberry and sister is Sarah Canterbury (Canterberry) This is what I have on him.
James first shows up in Madison Alabama in 1830. His sister Sarah married Robert Turnbow in Madison Co., AL.Sept. 1816. in 1837 James buys land in Tallapoo AL.James is in the 1840 Census still in AL.On Sept. 1,1848 he buys land in Montgomery MS.On Dec, 1, 1849 he buys land in Smith MS. In 1850 Census James shows up in Choctaw, MS. living with his sister Sarah. On Oct.,1,1859 James buys more land in Montgomery, MS.On the 1860 Census he is still living in MS. Not able to find him in the 1870 census.Date of Death unknown. I also see him in the Civil War.
