Edward Franklin Canton "vanished"

Ed Canton b. about l885, m. Alice Parenteau of Batoche Canada in l915 then "vanished" in l920-21. His dauther b. l917 was left an orphan when her mother Alice died in l926.

Ed's mother was Anna Martin Collins Lehay.
Ed CHANGED his name from Ed Collins to Ed Canton!
He had a brother William Wardell Canton <also changed his name>. Apparently Ed talked about raising cattle in Texas and Argentina prior to his disappearance ...and probably changed his name again!

All I know is he was born in Nebraska, his mother, his brother and he all moved to Wyoming and he also lived in Conrad and other cities in Montana where his only child was born.

Alice "divorced" him in l923 after he'd been gone for over a year. She soon died, and their daughter was left an orphan who lost all touch with the Parenteaus and was thus a foster child.

Ed Franklin never knew that he had grandchildren. He never contacted his daughter, and really wouldn't have known how to find her. He was tall and very handsome and I find it difficult to believe he didn't marry again. He was involved in the lumber industry but also worked the rodeo/horsetrading trade.

Anyone know anyhthing about this elusive man?
