I am helping a friend who is related to the Caples family. His aunt was Catherine Mannuccia (1889-1970) and she married Richard J. Caples (1889-1921). They had two daughters: Dorothy (b. 1910) and Catherine (1912-1985). Richard owned Caples Trucking Cambridge, MA. He died in 1921 of brain cancer. His wife,Catherine and he were separated at that time. She later married Michael Hughes and raised the older daughter, Dorothy in NY. The father, Richard, raised Catherine, with the help of his parents.

After Richard's death, his daughter Catherine "Kitty" continued to live with her grandparents at 129 Harvard St,in Cambridge, MA. They were Maurice (not Morris) Caples and Margaret Dwyer, both born in Ireland. When Catherine (the child) was grown, she ran the Caples Trucking company (254 Prospect St),until her death in 1985 in Cambridge.

Is is said that the cousins fought over her estate and there were some bad feelings from that.

Check census records: 1880 Salem, MA (p. 693c); 1900 Cambridge, MA (Vol 37, ED 68, p. 252, sheet 2); 1920 Cambridge, MA (ED 169, Pct 3, sheet 5a/9). Old Maurice was a currier, then a Morocco dresses (leather finisher). He and Margaret lived at Cambridge sometime after 1880, but they were buried at Salem, where other Caples family members lie. Apparently, this is where they lived when they first immigrated from Ireland.

I would love to hear from anyone concerning Richard or his children. Thanks.
