William Wickliffe Caplinger and family moved to Independence County, AR prior to 1900. William was born in Oldham County, KY 11 Oct.1848, the son of Charles A. Wickliffe Caplinger and Elizabeth Ladd. When the Caplingers came to Arkansas, they found the Caplener family living in the area. They were told that there was no connection and that Caplener was an Irish name.
