I am looking into the Caplinger/Vanarsdall(dale) family connection and FYI:
1) The 1870 Census of Johnson Co., Clark Twn., IN shows a Paul Caplinger, age 40, born Ky; wife Sarah, age 38; dau Mary E., age 18; son John H., age 16; dau Susan, age 14, born In; dau Sarah, age 11; son James B., age 8; dau Anna, age 6; dau Catherine, age 2. This Susan is the future wife of Calvin Vanarsdale.
2) October 31, 1878: Calvin K. Vanarsdall, age 22 and Susan Caplinger, age 22 are married in Johnson County, Franklin, Indiana. Susan's father is shwon as John H. Caplinger*. Ref: Johnson County MR, F-329.*Perhaps this is an error, may have been her brother, perhaps father deceased.
I have considerable information on Susan up until she died on March 12, 1918 in Plainfield, Indiana. Buried in Odd Fellow's Cemetery.
