I am pretty sure I found your Lawson Caplinger in Tuolumne Co. California where quite a few of our Caplinger's lived and tried thier hand at mining. I just recieved this obit copied from "The Banner",Sonora.
I found Lawson in the 1936 CADI and his date of death is listed; 12/5/1936.
I was unable to locate Anna or Lee.
It mentions a cousin, Ernest Caplinger. He was the son of my George Milton Caplinger whose father was Moses Caplinger. I hope this helps. I would love to hear your comments and also from other Caplinger researchers. Oscar

Friday, Dec. 18, 1936
Lawson Caplinger, 80, native of Ohio, died early Monday morning in this City. He had been engaged for many years as a miner in the Chinese Camp and Groveland sections.
Funeral was held by Terzich and Bigelow at the home of Ernest Caplinger, a cousin of deceased, in Big Oak Flat, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Justice J.C. De-Ferrari of Groveland conducted the services. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Deceased leaves a daughter, Mrs. Anne Pledman of San Diego and a son, Lee Caplinger of Hetch Hetchy dam.
