Hello Steven
If you get in touch with either Scarborough Library or the Crimlisk-Fisher Archives, Queen Street Filey then you'll find the Cappleman family going back to the 1600's. There is also a register with all the fishing information you would ever need in the Archives (it was compiled by the late wonderful Capt. Sydney Thomas Smith MBE)
Roger at the Archives in Filey is working on a Fishing Heritage project. Most of the Cappleman side along this coast are related to the Filey/Flambro' Cappleman/Cappleby/Campleman etc families. There is also a database of families down at the Filey Archives - but it's far more fun to do your own.
There is also East Yorkshire Family History Society who help at Scarborough Library (or did) on a Saturday.
Both my husband's family and son in law's family are related to the Cappleman side
kind regards
Kath W
