Kurt, Thanks for your reply. The William Capps Jr. in my family fought in the battle of Cowpens and afterward came to Henderson Co. N.C. and married Nancy Cooksey who I have heard was Cheerokee. His gravestone (new one)says he came from Johnston Co. but other sources say Chatham or Burke Co. They had ten children from whom most of the Cappses in Western N.C. descended. His son John was born around 1799 and later married Mary Chadwick. John's son Arron, my gg grandfather was born 1828 and died 1903 I think, I would have to check his gravestone to be sure. He was a Confederate veteran. I don't know anything else about John other than he was a Baptist preacher. I would like to find out where and when he died and being a Baptist preacher myself, what churches he may have served in. If you hear anything pass it on.
