I remember my father, Joseph Michael Capuano, had an uncle Rosario Capuano and an uncle Salvatore Capuano. I remember when our uncle Rosario died. I was within my first 10 yrs of life and it was the first wake/rosary I had ever been to. I am 31 now, born in California, raised in Burbank, CA. My name is Joni Michele.... I know I have a Vincenza in my family but gosh there is so much family, hard to tell how I am related or by whom. We've had alot of family reunions and I am still lost every time I go! =) My grandfather, Giuseepe "Joe" Capuano, son of Francesco Capuano was born in Sicily (the more research I do, I find it's probably Lascari) in June 1900 or 1901. Giuseppe came to America in 1923 on the ship Conte Verde to his brother, MICHELE CAPUANO in Grand Rapids, Michigan at 116 Grayhouse(sp) St. I looked in the passenger lists (at www.ellisislandrecords.org) for a Michele Capuano. There is one born around 1883 who was a 17yr old laborer from Lascari when he boarded the ship Victoria in May 1900. On the manifest, it says he was going to his brother-in-law's in Chicago. The brother-in-law's name is Taliaton?(sp?)- sorry, this was handwritten and hard to read) last name: BARBERA. Well, my grandfather Giuseppe "Joe" married Anna BARBERA, I believe she is also from Lascari. She was born in 1906 and is still alive today in CA. I also know my father's brother Frances "Frank" and sister Rosie were born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They are 4-6 years older than he is. Giuseppe and Anna moved from Michigan to Los Angeles, CA in 1946, 4 months before my father was born. My father was baptised in 1946 at St. Raphael's church in Los Angeles, also took 1st communion there with his brother Frances in 1954. My grandpa Giuseppe "Joe" died in 1976. I was only 5 so I hardly remember anything. I can send you pictures of my grandparents if that helps? Email me! Notify Administrator about this message?
