Sharon,

I asked my Dad, Joseph Michael Capuano (They just call him Mike) when his Uncle Rosario died. He said in 1987. Does that makes sense? I do know our Uncle Rosario was a resident of Burbank, CA because that's where I grew up and there are still Capuanos living there now- Frank and Franca and additional extended family. The Rosario Capuano I found in SS# records was born 21 Apr 1909 and died July 1987 in Burbank, CA. His SSDI record shows his mother's maiden name as Gialomba (I think a shortened version of Giallombardo) and his SS# 563-52-1608. My Dad also said Rosario was a 1st cousin of my Grandfather Giuseppe who died in 1976.

My dad said Michele Capuano was his Uncle Mike, and that his Uncle used to live with him and his family in Los Angeles. He said Michele never married that he remembered. My Dad remembers Michele Capuano dying around the time he went to bootcamp in the Marine Corps in May 1966. I looked up some records in the social security death index. A Michele Capuano was born 21 Nov. 1889 and died in LA, California May 1966. His social security # was 545-50-8607. On this record, Michele's father was Francesco Capuano and his mother was Rosa Giallombardo. This totally jives with my Dad's memory because he said his Grandma Rosa came over from Lascari with her son Giuseppe, my Dad's father. He said Rosa lived with them too and died between 1956-1958 in Los Angeles. As far as my Dad remembered Rosa's husband, Francesco Capuano had died in Lascari, which is why his grandmother came to America with his father and uncle.

My grandma is Anna Barbera Capuano. She's 96 years old, bless her, and still alive! She lives in La Habra right around the corner from my Aunt Rosie Capuano Campos. Anna's husband was Giuseppe "Joe" Capuano, b. 1900, d.1976- He is buried at Queen of Heaven Cemetary in Rowland Heights, CA. When Giuseppe brought Anna from Lascari to America, they settled in Grand Rapids, MI. I think around 1934-1937 or so, with his brother Michele. Then they all came to Los Angeles and Giuseppe had a little Deli or grocery in LA somewhere. I think they lived around 69th St. in LA at first and then moved to Gardena.

Anyway, hope this helps! Please get back to me, I am anxious to hear if we're related though with the size of this family, trust me, it wouldn't surprise me! =)

Joni
