Dear Mr. McClaskey,

Thanks so much for responding to my query about Thomas Carback. I found him listed in the Stafford County militia records for 1815. He had failed to appear for one or more required summer monthly musters and the sheriff had been sent to locate him. The sheriff entered a margin notation, "Removed," which meant that Thomas had moved out of the area. Carback isn't a name that I consider "local" to Stafford and I was curious about him.
