Dear Shirley:
I have been communicating with Roy Justus re Cardamoned/Talarico connections.I have since heard from Kelley Munzing. Her great grandmother, Conchetta Cardamone, was the sister of my grandmother, Rose Cardamone.I am now trying to find out about Conchetta and Rose's family history. They were born in Cutinsaara, Calaabria.I know that Rose came to America as a young girl and the story goes that she married Tom Talarico here. Also, the story goes that they were betrothed before either left Italy.Tom came here at around age 19 and landed in New York.He worked there in a grocery store, according to my brother. At some point he started working for the Illinois Central Railroad. When they lived in Illinois, my father, Joseph Talarico was born. The family moved at some point to Memphis, where Rose and Tom became naturalized citizens. My other grandparents, George and Valley McClure, their across the street neighbors, stood up for them.Rose and Tom had 15 children, 12 of whom survived to adulthood. All but two of the 12 stayed in Memphis and there are many cousins there.Only two of the 12 in Memphis are still living. The other two, Annie Talarico Barber, lived in Akron, Ohio; and Jessamond Talarico Bunger, lived in Michigan.Jessamond is now back in Memphis and one of the two living children of Tom and Rose.If any of this brings to light any new information, please let me know.Louise
