Liz and Marti - Surprised myself by finding you on this forum; not very familiar with this yet. However; a couple of suggestions:
1) go to my data on familysearch.org and look for your Carignan ancestor.
2) If you can't find him there, send me the info that you do have, via email, and I will research some of the books that I have which may be able to help.
Your statement "my great (x5) grandfather (b1737 m: Louis Bourbeau (Carignan) leaves me a bit confused.
I haven't forgotten you Marti; still have a few questions for you; will be in touch by email.
