Jeff, these Carlands were probably from Henry County Va. You should check out the Carlin listing. John and Daniel Carlin were wealthy land owners who had land in Carroll, Henry, Patrick Va. and Surry County NC. One of the Carlins moved to Greenville County Sc. in the late `1790's with some of my family. Namely, Nathaniel and Edward Stewart, they left Surry County NC, after staying maybe 8 or 9 years in SC. they moved to Buncombe Co. NC, and were there in 1810 for the census. The Stewart and Carlan's, Carlin's were allied families, and lived next door to each other since the 1780's on Stewart's Creek and Little Fisher River, which is in present day Carroll County Va and Surry Co. NC. Teresa Stuart de Rios.
