I was just reading a post on Genforum CARLIN, a man stated that John Carlin born Ireland 1750, was the brother of Daniel Carlin ca 1744, and Thomas Carlin. I have been trying to trace this John Carlin for 4 years now. In 1793 he witnessed the land grant of John Stewart Sr in Surry, Nc. John Stewart was my GGGGGgrandfather. About 1795, John Carlin, Edward Stewart, Nathaniel Stewart and other families moved to Greenville Co SC. Nathaniel Stewart was in Buncombe by 1810, Edward Stewart by 1812. John Carlin between 1812-1815. I Stewart researcher just sent me a copy of the estate papers of a man named William GOWAN 1805,Greenville Co SC. John Carlin bought 2 items from this estate sale. A Carlin in Buncombe married Mary ISRAEL, Nathaniel Stewarts son EDWARD married Sarah Israel, dau. of Johnson Israel and wife Anna. The man on Carlin Genforum states that another Carlin in Buncombe married a ANDERS or ANDREWS. Does anyone have this name connected with Carlin? I am interested in Anders because an EDWARD STEWART, found on 1850 Buncombe census married Lucretia ANDERS, and moved to GA. Does anybody know about this Anders family? I am fairly convinced that John Carlin, Greenville, Buncombe, and Henderson Co Nc is the same John Carlin found in Patrick Co Va and Surry, Nc. Teresa Stuart de Rios
