The John Carlin b1750 is buried near Mills River, NC. On the tombstone it states that he was b in PA. this has been confusing to me as the same John Carlin is closely associated with the Stewarts and the Hawks as they moved from VA to SC to Buncome county, NC. John, Jr. as he appears had Armstead 1800 and married to Mary Israel, Hiram 1801married to Nancy (Patsy) Jones, Tabita b 1806 m John Epperson, and John B.b 1815 m Eliza Anders.John B. moved with his sister who had no issue to Franklin Co., GA later Banks co., GA and inherited the Eppersons estate. John B. is my gggrandfather. He and Eliza ahad William Lafayette, Thomas Anders, David Armstrong (my ggrandfther), Eliza Cordelia, George Washington, James Dillard, Francis Marion, and Rhoda A.
Clementine. He is listed in the NC 1850census 100 with birth PA, Ellen 47, Felix Carson21,Lemuel 19,Eliza M 17,
James M.14, and Franklin12. Based on Kathy Yawn's 12/24/00 (18), this poses some interesting possiblities:
Why was Nelly Ashely not mentioned? Was John married the third time and Ellen being the third? The aforementioned children, A,H,T, and John B.were probably the second wife's. I cannot imagine a man in that time staying single for fifty years.
Now, the PA matter, I am almost convinced that this John Carlin (Jr.) is the same John Carlin in Patrick and Surry Cos. He may have come into the country in PA. I am trying to pinpoint this again. There are a BUNCH of Carlans
