Actually, this is a follow-up to your 12/24/00 message. Please read the last message I sent to Teresa. I was in Mills River several years ago and took picture of this John (Jr.) In the 1850 NC census Hyram is listed with all 16children. He was 49 at time and Patsy was 45. Do you have access to a family bible of Hyram. This man really did outlive his wives, whoever they were. The Nelly Ashely name on the marriage certificate is a clue. I have a FAX 770.472.7999. Would you be able to FAX me a copy of this? Maybe we can pin this down yet. I am really in a quandry as to the birth place of PA. John is so mixed in with the Surry Co. Daniel Carlans that he must be
related. In the website of Daniel, a John bother was left in Ireland. This could explain the first wife or no wife.
Hope this helps and if you can fill me in on anything else, let me know. We spent two days trying to get the Carlands to talk with us, but to no avail.
