Dear Jane
I havent pursued the Stowell-Smiths so your info on brohter Robert marrying a Hazlehurst is fascinating. So too is your comment that the Carliles were in Liverpool before 1860.Can you let me know more on this please? The Hazlehrusts are another fascinating link. There was big scandal connected to them in the 1700's.I am part of a "Hazlehurst Circle" who are researching them and keep in touch via the net.If you want I can connect you to them.I can guarantee you will be intrigued with their history.
As for the Carliles I cant find the baptism for Joseph Carlile born possibly 1768.I have him on the 41 census and I have his marriage but I have been trying for 11 years to find his baptism with no luck as yet.Have you heard of Carlile cottage in Wallasey which existed in the 1800's?I have pictures of that too. There is so much I am keen to let you have details of so I will keep in touch and hopefully make time at the weekend to send you loads of info.I am not too clever at attachments so may have to post it to you at some point.
Great to hear from you.Keep in touch.
Ann
