Ben "Benny" Carnes (Kansas and Missouri), born 1928

Looking for information on Ben "Benny" Carnes, an amateur boxer from Kansas City in the late 1940's and early 1950's, and a professional boxer in the 1950's. He was a student at the Haskell Indian Institute in Lawrence, Kansas, in 1947. Does anyone know the year he began to box, whether he was a southpaw or orthodox boxer, any state and national championships he won, and his career amateur record (wins and losses)? Many thanks.
