I have gathered a fair amount of info on various Carnes/Kearns/Carins/etc famlies living early in Westmoreland Co., PA. Some of this info might help you. Contact me direct at and I'll be happy to share it with you. A couple of questions for you: (1) What do you make of the fact that Edmund/Edward is listed on the 1860 Pendleton Co., KY census as "N." Carnes? Could his name have been Nicholas Edward or Nathaniel Edward? (2) On the 1880 census, only one of Edward/Edmund's many sons says his father was born in PA. The others say their father was born in VA (2), IN (1) or KY (2). So I'm curious about why you might think Edward/Edmund was born in PA. Thanks. Janice Rosenthal
