Don't know if this will be of any help, but it is what I could find, hope this is your William.
William Carnes b. 1860 Pa.,age 20,occupation=machinist, son of George W. Carnes and Mary (Unkn), b.?Ire.
Siblings were= George CarnesII,b. 1857 Pa.
Viola Carnes b.1863 Pa.
Clara Carnes b.1865 Pa.
John Carnes b.1867 Pa.
Jenny Carnes b.1876 Pa.
George Carnes I was a machinist also, and George II, worked at printing.
Viola and Clara were seamstress'.
Don't know how exactly but is in my ,husband's family line.
