Hello Todd, I have a question for you, you mention you were looking for the clan of your family tree. Are you talking about Native Blood line or something else? Anyway The Kerns family line changed the last name spelling several time over the years and I also have the spelling of Carnes in my tree along with: Kerns,Kearns,Carnes, there is also: Cairns, Keirns spellings, I have had a heck of a time searching for family. Do you have these Carnes in your line?:

Benjamin Carnes b. 1857 in Ross Co., Ohio
Chancey L. Carnes/Kearns b. march 23 1911 in Ross Co., Ohio
Clara Carnes b. 1879
David Carnes b. 1735
Henry Carnes b. June 1852 Ross Co., Ohio
Joseph Carnes b. Feb 7 1796
Maria Carnes b. abt. 1864
Martha Ann Carnes b. Aug. 1 1861
Mattie Carnes b. abt. 1861
Nancy Carnes b. 1859
Nancy Carnes b. 1792
Peter Carnes
Rachel Carnes b.1876
Susanna Carnes b. 1850
William Carnes b. 1878

This is all I have with that spelling for last name.
Please email me and let me know I have much more with different spellings if any of these fit your Carnes line.

Hope we are related, Bonnie Kearns
