In Reply to: CARSLEY-MILLER by Julie of 16

We have no Carsley/Miller connection that we know of. However, my husband has Carsleys in Maine in the 1800s. (I have them in Virginia in the 1600s.)

The earliest Carsley he can prove is Francis M. Carsley b. about 1833 in Portland, Cumberland Co., Maine. Francis married Ann Elizabeth Brown about 1853 in Portland, ME. Francis died November 14, 1897 in Chicago, IL. Ann died after 1918. My husband is not sure of the location --Chicago or Portland, ME. Ann's father was Richard Edney Brown and mother was Ann Unknown. Francis Carsley's parents are unknown.

Francis and Ann had Frank Edney Carsley b. August 23, 1854 in Portland, ME. Frank married Jennie Smith Bush October 22, 1886 (probably in IL).

Frank died January 2, 1914 in Chicago. Jennie died after January 14, 1919. Her granddaughter Helen Carsley mentions in a letter that she has to write Grandma Carsley on that date.

Do any of these names correspond to anyone in your files? If so, we would like to hear from you. We have hit a brick wall with the Carsley's earlier than Francis, so any help would be most appreciated.
